Transfer case gasket.
« on: Dec 29, 2008, 09:16:13 PM »
Does anybody know what the gasket is called that goes between the taransmission and the transfer case? Not the seal that goes around the shaft, but the gasket that goes on the mating surfaces. The local part stores can't seem to find this in their system. According to them it doesn't exist.
I need one by saturday, so if I need to get one from Marlin I'll have to get it coming tomorrow.

Thanks

we don't show it(napa). I have tried back when we were still Victor gaskets, and now that we are felpoo. cut your own, or get one from MC. AFAIK, no aftermarket company makes one. I assume that is why marlin's have MC stamped in them instead of regulare gaskets like the rest of the ones that come in the tcase rebuild kit.

This is what I was thinking of doing too. Anyone have a reason this wouldn't work or does the gasket HAVE to be used?
Time to go wheelin!

ultra grey works best for high torque loaded applications, ultra black is the most oil-resistant. MC uses ultra grey.

Napa sells sheets of gasket material that is a quality material. Make a pattern and cut yourself.

Its cheap too. About $7 for a 18x36 piece
