AIr Filter
« on: Sep 01, 2004, 06:29:31 AM »
Im using the K&N set up for my 22-re, I was told that using this will allow dust to go through the into the combustion chamber and will eventuall ruin the engine. Is this true? Should i switch back to the stock air filter setup?

I run a cone filter on my 22re and also right after the filter have a piece of nylon pantyhose stretched over the intake pipe.  The hose clamp on the filter holds everything in place.  Its kind of a pregnant dog-you need one person to hold the nylon and another to install the filter and tighten the clamp.  I change it out every once in a while because I spend a lot of time in the sand dunes and I live in a semi arid desert, so its dusty all the time.

I don't have fuel injection but i do have a K&N filter.  I love it.  I get it dirty and then rinse it out with water and it gets clean again.  Does anyone know if the cleaning kits actually work?

You should be fine...unless you do a lot of water spalashing and stuff...the filter might suck up water  :headshake:

I posted some similar questions a while back.  Did some research and ended up ordering an amsoil filter (similar to the K & N) have had no problems and I believe it's a little cheaper than the KN
