Manually disengaging a e-locker.....
« on: Dec 04, 2008, 12:23:48 PM »
My rear e-locker is locked and not wired. I tried pulling the motor and shifting it with a screw driver like I had done prior to installing it and it wont disengage. Now that its been driven is it smart, or should I say stupid enough to stay locked with out the power draw of being wired up? Or am I just not giving it enough muscle? My biggest fear is screwing up the teeth in there.

Jack it up and pull the motor, have someone (or use your foot) spin the tires and put pressure with the screwdriver.  It will go back it is just in a bind.

Then I am assuming it will stay back until I wire it up and use it?

yes it stays unlocked till you manually lock it again

the reason it wont unlock is because its in a bind, just jack up one tire
you can do it with the front hubs locked and in 4hi even

I'll see if I can find the links, but when I got mine and did a bit of research, you can operate the locker by using a battery and applying power to a certain pin, and grounding a different one.
