from a runner to a truck, probably not. I just picked up some seats out of a early 90's runner for my 83' truck and they aren't even close. But im no expert so someone else can chimb in.

I intstalled 2nd gen seats in my 83. I had to drill 1 or 2 new holes & used large washers to bolt them in. You might be able to switch the seat tracks.

The answer is yes they will fit, BUT they might not be a direct bolt in. It has been 4 years since I did this & I don't have the truck anymore to go out & look. Measure the mounts in the 80 & have they seller measure the mounts on the seats. That will tell you if it's a direct bolt in. If they don't fit, modify the mounts. Those 1st gen seats are uncofortable. You won't regret making those seats fit  :twocents:

if you follow that train of thought, then everything from a first gen will bolt up directly into a 3rd gen. ::)

I have 95 4runner seats in my 2nd gen, and yes I had to mod the rails a bit to get them in. When I had my 79, I had to drill new holes to bolt in buckets.

You can make just about any seat fit, may take some fabbing and drilling, I just put Taco seats in my 86 pickup. had to do some drilling and add some supports so that they wouldn't bust through the floor but it can be done. The only thing that may be an issue would be height, different years can and do have different seating heights. For example my Taco seats sit me a little higher in the saddle and I'm tall. If they were an inch taller I wouldn't be able to sit in my truck.

Likely the outer two mounts of the seats will bolt up, but the inner ones wont.  Also the 3rd gens are wider than the 1st gen, and the seats wont fit as well.  The last 4x4 I rebuilt for sale, I put these 3rd gen 40/60 buckets into an '86.  They fit, but it was tight, not a lot of room to adjust the seats with the door closed.

As mentioned you can pretty much fit any bucket seats into any vehicle, it just depends on how much fabrication work you are able to do.

The normal rule of thumb is to look for seats from the same manufacturer and same era as yours, i.e., celica. supra, maybe camry seats would fit better in the '80, then the mid to late '80's and so on.  Also other imports from the same/close to the year will work with little effort.

I would start off by putting the seats in where the line up with the steering wheel, then see where they line up with the mounts, you cam always drill new mounts(just reinforce them plate steel or large washers).

One other issue with seats, is they usually aren't level, and usually require some shimming of the outside rear mount.  Sometimes it takes only a few washers, other times it takes welding an extension.  Since they are Toyota seats it should only be a few washers.
