Front bumper Build ( Never to be finished )
« on: Nov 07, 2008, 12:42:10 PM »
All right, I have been a member on the forum for a while now, and used it as my main source of motivation while I have been building my truck.  So I thought is was only fair to give back a little and show you guys my latest project, my front bumper, and maybe get a little feed back why I’m at it    Keep in mind its not finished yet and I will keep it updated as more progress is made. Here it is so far...

I wanted a taller stinger but in order for it to fit in the two outer bends that is kind of what I got stuck with.  As far as pathy he didnt like my design at first but I think its growing on him lol

I am making the necessary adjustments to complete the build, I will fix the stinger too. His design team wasn't there when he tacked it in.

The HF bender is not that bad, If you use a torch to heat the pipe it work even better.

Me too, bending all this stuff in school sucks big time. Only being able to work on stuff for two and a half hours twice a week is not time efficient.  Buy one so i can use it

Yea the HF bender does ok, i would not want to have bent The main peice of the bumber with that though  :hammerhead:

He is running bars back to the shock hoops. So plenty or reinforcement. And he also has some sweet over the headlight bars that run into the NEW fender bars. Hope he updates soon. Great armor.

I think the headlight/around the front bars will be connected to the stinger.

Ok as promised here are some updated pictures of the fender bars.  I'm not super happy with how they came out, i tried to stay as tucked in as possible but they still look bulky to me... I don't know.

Also here is a sneak peek to the headlight protection, if it looks off its because it is, I'm just holding it there with my hand.

And for all of those who are talking about adding two more mounts, this is the joint were i will be going straight back into some new shock mounts.

it looks good bro . This is exactly what I want to do to my rig and it doesnt look bulky to me. If you were to rub against a rock would the fender bar hit the fender?

Right now, yes. It would hit in one spot on each side, my plan is so massage the fender over enough that there is a little more room.  I don't think they will move very much though after i build the shock hoops( there are going to be two 1'' bars that run from the fender bar and bend down to the frame with the shock mounted in between them)  or that's the plan anyway,

If you tie those fender bars into the shock hoops and then tie the shock hoops together over the engine, you shouldn't have to worry about the fender bars ever touching your fenders.  Just my  :twocents:

The only noticeable additions that I plan on making are running tubes ( two on each side) from the fender bar, bend down into the frame with a shock mount incorporated between the two tubes. Once those are done I will run another tube, from the main piece o the bumper back to the new shock mounts/fender brace. I'm also have some little things like small gussets, cutting and sleeving the fender bars so it is still removable (same as pathys) and when the time comes add the winch mount...

Thats all in planning on but who knows... I have a growing suspicion that an exo may be in this trucks future    :eyebrow:
