i think it is as easy as adding the adapter and a top shift gear drive transfer case behind it, you will also then need to modify the length of your driveshafts

You will need the V6 adapter plate and a gear drive t case mount. No driveshaft mods should be necessary. For the mount I went with one from 4xinnovation. It's cheaper than Marlins and it is BOMBPROOF.http://www.4xinnovations.com/pages/drive/casemount.htm

Well this brings a question to mind. If i were to do this swap in my 89 extra-cab, I would not have to modify my driveshafts? I currently have a V6 chain drive case like the Original Poster, and also want lower gearing. I do plan on adding a doubler but this simple mod could make alot of V6 people happy for now , then add a crawlbox later when needed.
I guess the main question is this. Is a chain drive case the same length from Trans mating surface to rear t case output flange the same as a chain driven case? If no one can tell me this I have an Extra cab V6 chain drive case with a stock 2 peice rear shaft, and my brother has a 4 cyl extra cab with a gear driven case and stock 2 peice rear shaft. I guess i can measure both cases to give a comparison.
I am really hoping this is a quick mod becase i can get this case geared lower and twin sticked, then throw in a crawl box for the ultimate setup later.
If anyone has these measurements handy they would be appreciated.

Just got word from Davez. that both t cases are approximately 13" from mating surface to rear output flange. I think i will verify this when i can get to a 4 cyl truck. Now the adapter will add to the length. so you will either have to reloacte the hanger bearing with a drop plate with slots to accomoadte the different length or retube the rear driveshaft.

When I put the single gear drive case in I did not have to modify anything. There was enough adjustment in the center bearing mount. The adapter is only about 3/4 " thick. The shifter that came with the case had been modified so it came up in the same place as the CD t-case shifter.

Hell you are giving me the idea of doing a single case first. IDK what the hell to do. The only drawback is super low reverse. Suxor for the mud running we do down in south LA.
