welllp its about that time of year again  .  anyone planning on getting days in this season? what does everyone ride?

i skied opening day October 15th at A-Basin, CO it was soo fun.  also went today.

loveland pass this morning almost to a-basin.

ski lift from the parking lot.

on the way back out over loveland pass looking towards loveland ski area

it was about 55 degrees and sunny out today.  they got some fresh now.  same rails and boxes setup but it was wicked fun.  had some beers, grilled some food, took some runs... good day.

picked myself up a set of Marker Baron A/T Bindings for my powder skis, also got climbing skins, avy beacon, shovel, probe, pack.  plan on venturing out a lot more days this season than past. My buddies and I are taking a 10 day trip to Jackson Hole, WY over winter break.  We got 6 day passes on the mountain and the other 4 ski days we are gonna be trekking around finding good cliffs.  Jarboarder1 is one of the guys going on the trip.

Also thinking about picking up a pair of new park skis.  I have Ninthwards now, but I think im gonna pick up some TNK 4Frnts of something not sure yet.

I'm planning on hitting Mammoth, Whistler BC, Jackson Hole, Breckenridge, Crestted Butte, Telluride and probably hit some UT resorts as well.
Last season's road trip I spent 3 weeks at TeHelluride, Crestted Butte, Snowbird and Jackson Hole. Did some days at Mammoth before I left for that trip.

summit blows... i hate that place... buts its close and easy so we end up there.... mammoth is seriously bad ass especially if you get there on a good powder day which are frequent. the backside is off the hook. Lucky me doesnt get to board this season cause my knee isnt strong enough yet... cant wait for next season

You can always tell when the snow season is upon us, when Warren Miller puts out a new documentary!  I love watching his movies.

i like warren miller but he lacks in specific riding.  my mom rode with him in banff when i was a little kid and said he was really cool, but his movie style is way different than what i personally want out of a ski/snowboard movie.  i would rather watch a poorboyz or mackdawg movie.

Kirkwood is where it is at  no green haired punks their.  Lots of blackdiamonds too. 2nd choice would have to be Sierra @ tahoe.  I ride a Salomon 163, with the flow bindings, I got the board for free it was a demo.  I just had to have the flows like 3 years ago. :rofl2: man I need to step it up.  Just need to get a better job.

ill post up some motivation pics (these pics are not me I am a freeride backcountry guy) so yeah I pretty much just do jump turns, no big air, just haul :moon:

How I miss A-Basin  :(  I used to live in in Summit County and used to ride all over the place there.  I miss the runs down Loveland Pass.  We used to do a lot of full moon runs down the pass too. Been a long time, about 12 years ago... Got spoiled and have not riden since I moved back to So. Cal. Have some fun for me!

i grew up on the east coast and moved out here 2.5 years ago.  try to spend as much time up there as possible whether its wheelin, or skiing.

on another note did some jibbin the past couple days.  my buddies and i bought recycled wood for $13! and then some 3in. PVC and notched it over the ladder rungs.  the drop in is fully adjustable and can be taken apart to move around for urban/backyard rails.

the drop in being built

the first jib setup, it was sketchy cause we didnt have much snow and the jump on was about a foot wide.

we got a TON more snow tonight and set it up again.  it was a good session tonight.

gotrocks

I can't believe you guys are already skiing.  Thats crazy.  The snow hasn't started flying enough here yet in washington to get enough snow.  I totally dig your back yard jib season though.  Hella cool.

o got a new board for this season..its kinda hard to find a wide, short, park board. but i picked up a Rome Flag 157, i wanna try a road trip to maybe bachelor this year since i have my license. otherwise its the local park, 12 minute drive, Mt Shasta Ski Park. really small, but quick an easy. already got my s4eason pass. :gap:

whhheeeww more skiing.  what a great season so far!  been on the mountain about 20 days so far and probably another 10 days on urban rails and backyard jibs.  leaving for CO then Jackson Hole WY on the 1st of Jan and jackson reported 40-50in of snow in the past few days!  if this base sticks we could be dropping some hefty cliffs (buddy is lookin for 75fters).   i skied waterville valley last week during that big storm my buddy and i got faceshots (no homo) alll day!  it was almost waist deep!  ive only gotten one day better than that in CO this year.  good stuff.  rode park at mt snow with my boys the other day heres a couple pictures for your enjoyment.  im wearing the bright blue coat.

4RunnerChevy

I havn't been this year yet, but I ski for free at Kirkwood (managed the place for 8 years).  I should go.

snowshoebrue

i went again today.  it has become retarded how much money it cost to go skiing now between food and tickets.  the higher the prices go the closer i get to buying a sled and just going backcountry

NorCalToy

ive been goin up a bit after work at teh local park (Mt. Shasta). i work parking in teh mornings and im generally off by about noon. so ive always got my board in the truck, so a few rusn is nice. and its always free, get a pass as an employee, and i had to be there anyways so its way nice. finally got the park fully open, but could still use some more snow.

go to the shows before season, I got 3 free tickets and a ton of discount coupons. Or buy a pass early, my kirkwood pass pays for itself in just over two trips which I have already done..

Went yesterday with my barely 4 year old, she rocks..

BTW the trip cost me about $20 in gas and then $8 for my daughters lift ticket - that's it and well worth it...

i dunno i tried the whole "sled" thing and it ended up working out to be more expensive to have the sled than to just ride.  granted i do use sleds occasionally but they arent mine.

just got back from a couple weeks up in Wyoming and Idaho.  freakin cold up there hit -20 a few nights.  we stayed at a friends house in Idaho and rode Grand Targhee the first day along with 13in of fresh snow.  great start to the trip and the high that day was -1.  warmed up droppin some smaller cliffs and worked up to 15fter in prep. for jackson.  Headed over to Jackson Hole skied 6 days.  avalanche warnings were really sketchy all week.  but we got 15inches one night, 13 another so all in all it was pretty awesome.  we all wore our beacons even while inbounds.  sent some pretty big cliffs, wandered out through the gates on friday cause they were finally open.  got some really deep pow hit chest/neck deep a few days. got to jib a van at a photoshoot saturday night.  here is a pic from the "TatsVan".
