hey guys just a small question i want to get the tires as far out past the fenders as possible on my 85 4runner, just wondering what would the best way to do it i know my next tire will be 13.5 to 15 inches wide so basically im just wondering what size rim should i use im hoping to get beadlocks, and how big of wheels spacers i could use, or if all of this will be to hard on toyota gear and if i want to go wider should I  go with dana 60's i would really like to stay with yota gear but i just love the stance of tires out past the fenders, but does a wide stance really help in rock crawling?

thanks a lot for any input

One tons.

Wider is better.  Unless the trails you go on don't allow for wide axles.

Your question is kinda open ended.  My real suggestion is to just get out and wheel.

very good suggestion   but will i be alot harder on the toyota gear if i put them as wide as possible like with 3 inch spacers wide tires and rims ?

thanks

really depends.... looks shoudl be secondary, with going wider, you must also realize you will be more prone to rubbing at full lock, it will be worse under articulation as well -- wider can also stress out bearings, sure they should be ok with proeper maintenance - but.........

Yes, it will be very hard on the front end. And good luck steering it. How wide do you really want it. And why? Stability on side hills? Or just for looks? How hard will it be wheeled. There is alot to take in to consideration before widening up your stance.

4Runner on the right - Toyota axle (55"), 15x10 2.5" backspaced wheels, 1.5" wheel spacers.

4Runner on the left - D44 Waggy axle (58-59"), 15x8 3.5" backspaced wheels, no wheel spacers

He's wider than my rig.  I like having the extra width for sidehilling and overall stablity while wheeling.  Takes hydro assist to turn the tires for sure!  The scrub radius sucks big time and I end up having to make multiple point turns where the D44-D60 crowd can make it in a single turn.
