I dont think so. I dont know of many yota's with lower than 3.73 if even that for that year range. 88 Pathy I think is right on the 4.10's. That seems to be the norm for these rigs. My buddy has a 95 extended cab v6 with 4.10's stock.

well is there anything i can do for more get up and go? i am not looking for an engine swap and anything "major" it has 80k on it and runs great it is just a dog. it is going to stay stok it is a camping rig daily driver ONLY.

There are minor upgrades that can be done to probably get some gain. Intake, exhaust system and such. Gears make a huge difference but would be costly considering if it is 4wd and being front IFS. And your gas mileage might even go down by regearing lower.

You can always roll it forward on flat ground and count the driveshaft revolutions vs. tire revolutions and do the math.  There are other methods to do this, but this one is basically fool proof.  If you have someone push it slowly by hand while under the truck (don't sign up for a Darwin Award doing this) it should be simple.

if its an auto, they are 4.88's and if its a 5 spd, they are 4.10's  if it has the 3.slow, your best bet is to swap in a 3.4 motor.

jimbo74

what tag are you trying to read? my vin palte under the hood has my axle code on it, and unless someone has specifically tampered with it, there is no reason it shouldnt be there

Post a pic of the VIN plate in the door jam.  We'll tell you at least what the truck came with originally.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

The tag with that info will be in the driver's door jam, right by the striker.  It'll have the year of manufacture and all the code info on the bottom of the tag.  Get us a pic if you want and we'll figure it out.

As has been said, 4 popper w/5 speed should be 4.10, and it probably came with 28" tires.  4 popper with auto should be 4.30 and probably came with small tires too, but there were some oddball combos.  v6 will likely be 4.10, or 4.88 if it came with the auto and 31" tires.

i also thought the 5 spd v6 and 31s came with 4.56s or 4.88s... :dunno:

Maybe, maybe not.  Like I said, there seem to have been a few different options.  I could maybe see v6 5spd with 4.56, but I'd think they would have used the 4.88 with the auto to make up for the loss in power.

a 95 wont be a G292 etc  it will be  like B03A or something similiar

B=8 inch......01 = 3.42   02 = 3.58   A = 2 Pinion, Open
.................03 = 4.10   04 = 4.56   B = 4 Pinion, Open
.................05 = 3.15   06 = 3.91

if its an auto then most likely the gears are 4.30s just gear the axles and you will be more than happy. you dont need a new motor or anything major like that. if you want to do anything noticeable and simple go an have the gears changed in the diffs. throw in some 4.88s.

83yota

sorry about the long wait. been VERY busy. we are still looking to get a pic of the vin plate. i am working on aquiring(sp?) an 85 runner. the only thing the guy has done is put the 4.7:1 gears in the t-case. no lift no go fast mods no gears 31" tall tires. what should i do? PLEASE REMEMBER it is a DAILY DRIVER. i was thinking 4" lift with 33's and maybe 4.56 gears. anything else? maybe down the line (2-3 years) yes i know how reare they are and this one is VERY unmolested with little to no rust.

What about the ones that came with 3.90, 4.30, 4.37, 4.56 or 4.88?  There are probably more, those are just the only ratios I can pull off the top of my head that came in toyota 4wd trucks.
