I just put in a new alt and im trying figure out the best way to power all my acc(lights, amps, gps, cooler, etc.), ive never done this before. I was plannig on putting it in the back, inside the body panel. And its going in a 85 4runner. do i just run a like a 12gauge wire to the alt? or will it burn it up? and is it logical to run a master switch from there to the front of the cab? im open for anysuggestions at all. Anybody? thanks! :headscratch:
All Im lacking is a flux capacitor and the ability to hit 88.

I would atleast run a 4guage if not 2 or lower, thats a long way to carry current.

Run 2 gauge or bigger for sure, I´d also put a diode isolator to keep them seperate so that the accessories won´t drain your main battery. That way you can always start your truck even when the 2nd battery is flat.

going that far its gotta be a BIG wire with lots of strands,

I would put a super heavy duty one from the alt to the 1st battery and run off there,
you can ground it to the frame, but then again run an extra ground from the motor to the frame to the body.
