to my 2nd gen runner. who would i call to get a new key made?

AAA?
go to the local toyota dealer and have them deal with it?

and if i go to the dealership, what info would i need to take with me other then proof of insurance and that i own the runner...

A good locksmith can do it too.

Proof of ownership and the vin should be all you'd need to get a new key, but with that old of a rig, they'd prolly just try to get you to buy a new ignition cylinder.  I'd try the locksmith.

Just get one of your buddy's keys and see if it works.  My key works in four of my friends trucks.  Might be worth a try and cheaper than a locksmith.   :dunno:

And do yourself a favor and do NOT let them talk you into that.  Take it from me, the ones they carry are junk compared to the toyota ones.  I had to buy one because mine was broken and there were none for early first gens at pick n pull, and I regret it to this day.

:bat: c'mon nate, don't make me say something I didn't say.  :gap:  I never said to get a new cylinder from the locksmith, just have him make a key.  :gap:

If you don't need it real fast, I'd search the forums for someone parting out a truck, and buy their ignition cylinder and key from them.

so my mom solved the mystery of the keys that grew legs and ran away. apparently i put them in the cupboard where we keep out keys after school friday when i got home and i didnt even realize it. so basically i cleaned my room and searched the house high and low, cleaned out my runner and picked up part of my garage for nothing. long story short... they were in the cupboard where i should have looked to begin with since i always put those keys back in there since its not my DD anymore

:beerchug: to all and a  to BD for the knowledge i now have when it comes to dealing with a locksmith
