Oh ok, my stock mounts were pretty clean. That is a pretty damn good idea for mounts though, kudos to you for thinking outside of the box.

When you get your engine mounts burned in and the engine sat on them permanently, let me know how much space you have between your radiator and the front of the engine. I can't use the Taurus fan that I just bought b/c I don't have enough space. I'm gonna try a Hayden fan that searfarinman over on Pirate suggested.

If the hayden fan doesn't work, I'm going to have to cut my mounts back out and move the engine closer to the firewall. It's gonna be a major PITA if I have to go that route :maddest:

I think I just took the stock 22re fan and flipped it around to get the right clearance.  I seem to remember drilling out the mounting holes too.  Just my  :twocents:

The oil pan on my 3rz wouldnt clear my steering so cut the the three inch drop off the bottom of the pan cleaned it really good and welded a piece of plate on. Then drilled out the spot welds on the drain plug from the drop and relocated it in the plate. It didnt provide alot of clearance, but it was enough to get the motor in and get by with a trip or two this fall.

I cut the two verticle sections out of the oil pick-up which totaled about 3 inches and the welded it back up and bolted it back in place there is about 1/4 clearance between the bottom of the pick-up and the pan.

When you get your engine mounts burned in and the engine sat on them permanently, let me know how much space you have between your radiator and the front of the engine.

With the radiator mocked up I have 5 1/4 inches between the fan pulley and the radiator.

Those motor mounts turned out sweet!  I'm gonna have to remember that mod.  Who did you buy those hangers from?

Unfortunately Marlin does not sell the sloped hangers so I had to go through Trail-Gear.

Anyways mounts painted purty and tightened up

Have you got that running yet, I am curious to know if you get any engine  vibration with those mounts?

No it probablly wont be running for a few weeks im waiting on my harness ORS and i still have to buy a bunch of accessoies like power steering pump, alt, starter, ac compressor, and a bunch of other small things.

I dont see there being any vibration with the poly urethane bushings in em.

dang it man... I got my HAYDEN fan in today, and it barely clears, but I don't have the belts to put on to see if it clears completely and I about 3 3/4"-4" between my radiator and water pump pulley. There's no way a stock fan would clear. I might have to go get some steel plate and make some kinda adapters to move the engine back about 2 inches instead of cutting my mounts off.

Is this just a trail rig or will you dd it? If you dd it I would like to know if you experience any vibration when you finally get it running. I have seen mounts like that before and they have not been as smooth as a stock mount.

What are you doing the swap on?

My transfercase sits on the crossmember in the original location and with a W56 tranny. With a W59 bell housing i have 5 and a 1/4 clearance. I dont understand how your clearance is different unless you were using a longer tranny.

I'm putting this in my 85' 4Runner. It came w/ an automatic, so I'm not sure if the cross member mounting location distance is different between it and the 5spd I'm using. I'm going w/ a R150 w/ Marlin's bellhousing. I did not base my engine placement on my transmission mounting location. I based it off someones build up on Pirate. They cut 1" out of the frame mount(after they cut them off the frame) and then moved them closer to the firewall by 2". I'm thinking I should have moved mine around 3 1/2" closer to the firewall. Live and learn...

Im not quiet sure why you guys are so short on room up front. I put mine in and had plenty of room for the 22re fan and clutch with a 3 row rad. Swap looks great though.

There's no way a stock fan clutch and fan would clear either... I've only got about 3 1/4" between the radiator & the studs on the water pump. I'll get the e-fan put in, take a pic so yall can see what I'm working w/.

i swapped an 86 22-re and w56 5 spd into my 86 4runner that originally had a 22-rte and a auto tranny, and the tranny/tcase mounts were identical.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike
