when i used to have my 1st gen 4runner together, my frame on the pass side got tweaked, a combination of a heavy foot and some high quality spotting going up a stepup. im starting a build and i want to have a strong frame.  i was thinking of building a new frame but not sure on how to approach it, im going to be using leafs for now. any help will be appreciated

1st gen has both IFS and straight axle configurations, which is it.

its an ifs frame, and im looking for dimentions for a similar wheelbase,  and if you can understand what im getting at what is the ideal angle to have in the front and rear of the frame  ie:  from the firewall the frame sweeps up at somthing degreese, ecetera, i'll post a pic of what i mean if i ever figure out hoe to post pics on here  if anyone has a link to a frame building resource it would help alot,

how hte hell did bad spotting and a leadfoot tweak the frame? did you plow into a wall going 25?!

If you are running IFS you need to have 2 crossmembers not just the single one Toyota has on the front. The constant pressure on the rear mount will cause it to slowly twist the frame.

i was going up a rock stepup, couldn't get over it crawling so i was gunna gas at it like i normaly did, rolled up to it, buddy spotting said i was clear so i hammered on it and BANG.

im going to be doing an sas in this build, and i will be replacing the holy front crossmember but i am concerned with the strenth of the frame, which is why i was leaning toward building a new frame

the frame is fine....... if you are going to SAS it, just make sure you put everything on square

these frames are pretty tough.....

a slow speed smack isnt going to do much damage......

it hit on the tow hook and put a nice dent on the bottom of my frame, and with the body unbolted(body is strait) the left side body mount is about 1.5 inches lower, any ideas on straitning it out? or should i just replace the bent parts

Rocksurfer

Oh then the IFS had nothing to do with it bending, you just bent the frame from running into something with the frame. I wouldn't worry about how strong it is as long as you quit running into rocks with the frame.

unfortunatly i cant garantee that, when i get it strait i shouldn't see any issues with strength?

stop driving into stuff.... how hard is that?

haha, im one to talk with all my accidents, but thats because i cant drive for beans... i've learned to deal with bent frames..... they arent that big of a deal....
