have you run into the "check guages" problem yet RS?

Rocksurfer

No haven't had anything happen, in fact other than changing the oil and a new set of brake pads, rotors and a couple seized lug nuts because some gorilla must have torqued them on it has been a great truck. So now you've got my curiosity up what happens?

i suggest you look into oil pressure problems on these v8s.. thousands are loosing motors

Rocksurfer

Oh that issue, my Ramcharger had that problem, the bypass for the oil pump sticks open not allowing enough oil pressure to get to the top end.

It looks nice, but did I miss something?  Is it a brand new 01 that never left the lot or is it just new to you?  I've seen 2 or 3 year old bikes, sometimes older, that were never sold and just say on the showroom floor until the dealers got pissed and sold them super cheap.

A friend showed up at my work tonight in an 04 nissan frontier saying it was overheating.  Radiator was full, so the thermostat was probably jacked up.  I just thought it odd that a 4 year old rig would already have that issue, but it's a company rig his friend owns and I'm guessing it sees lots of short trips and is never warmed up before being driven

It's the newest vehicle I've ever owned, and my family (growing up) never had anything new either.  So yeah, it's brand new to me.

As for the Durango's V8.... Matt had major issues with his '98 with the 5.9L.  Don't know how relevant that is to your Durangos (Rs and Cd).  Oil pressure issues, cooling issues, it was non stop.  And it ping'd like crazy.

we have an 02 durango with the 4.7 that has been really good... the only major issue it had was it developed an exhuast leak (got that fixed) and also tossed an 02 sensor (i replaced that) and its been fine since

butt it's a Nissan

Nah, nissans are actually pretty good (IMO).  I will always have a Toyota from here on out, but I had a 2000 nissan with 170,000 miles and it was still running perfect.  I only got rid of it because I am 6' 5" and that doesn't really fit in the nissan (for some reason I fit better in a toyota).

Congrats on getting a new to you truck!!!!  Should do REALLY well for you!!!!!!!

I've been a fan of Nissan since I test drove a Frontier, Pathfinder, 4-runner, and Tacoma all in one day.  The Nissan is way more comfortable than the Toyota.  I'm not saying anything against Toyota, but the Nissan is built for comfort and durability.  The Toyota - Durability and longevity.  (This being my opinion, maybe I just fit in a Nissan better than a Yota :dunno: )

I would have got a 4 runner if they'da had one in our price range, but it wasn't to be.  So far I LOVE the Pathfinder
