they are part of the tailgate, are not removeable...... well, unless you get a tailgate and cut them out... but they dont bolt in

the latch hardware is part of the way they integrated the way the hinges mount.... hold on, uploading pics right now -- you can leave that part off, but then your gate wont stay up, and the bolts will be the wrong height and will stick out and make the rest of the hinge flop around....

Hmm.. maybe a net would just be less hassle. Or, I may see if some later model hardware will work better. I know GM used a "cup" style pivot point, with the same type of side latches... no floor hinges. So, since the TG isn't a concern, (making a flow through w/ sqaure tube and expanded metal) then maybe I can make it work by notching the new agte where it's needed to make the hardware from something else work.

I'll have to do some looking around. Thanks for the info so far.

most domestics use the hinges where you can just pop the gate on and off without tools....

the toyotas are liek that from 79-95 i beleive..... i know that i am running the hardware from an 85 on my 83 bed... (same hardware) the floor hinges are on a plate that are inside the bottom of the tailgate
