So I was at a auction 2 weeks ago and I bought a 89 MR2 Supercharged. Today my 10 days on the lein was up so I go to pick it up. mind you guys I bid on the car not knowing if it ran or anything just looked at it from the outside. Come to find out it has 52,000 miles has been stored inside since 93 it is so clean the interior looks new, the paint still shine so nice. haven't even tried to get it running yet was going to change all the fluids. What would something like this be worth? I just bid on it because nobody else did and I thought It looked cool.

Are you serious it only has 52k miles on it?? You are sitting on a gold mine if so.

I haven't been in to the market for a while, I bet kbb or likewise only gives $2,000 for it, but to the enthusiast, if it's all original and in perfect running condition at only 52k miles, then I bet you could get upwards to 5,000 for it with good paint?

Thats definatly a nice pot of gold you got there.  You could probably get more then 5k if you find the right buyer.

Its not the best site, but the only MR2 board Ive been on www.Mr2oc.com should be able to help out.

Congrats on that sweet find.

That's about what I'm thinking.  It may be worth more, but most people's idea of "perfect" is very different from my own, so I tend to estimate on the low side.

lubo

te51levin, you're on here as well, eh ? haha

yes, this car may easily be worth upwards of 5k for an enthusiast ... like the 3 of us here. . me, te51levin and bigmike :)

i upgraded to a lexus sc300 a few weeks ago and I intend  on leaving the mr2s in the past, but they will always hold a special place in my heart, especially after owning so many of them.

Thats surely true in the right market, but I don't see there being much of a market for that here.  I'd like to go check it out, and if it looks worth it and the dude seems legit I may have a new toy!

They're great...really, the biggest single issue is neglect.  Because they are dirt cheap, they get bought and sold frequently, and because they are mid-engined and have scary, sci-fi attributes (like that "TWIN CAM" emblazoned on the engine), people get skittish and refuse to maintain them.  They will go a very long time even being ignored, and they are not expensive to maintain, but be prepared to undo some cheezy work and remove some Autozone parts to make it decent.

'87+ gets bigger brake rotors and a moderately upgraded transmission, but that one may have the base interior (cheaper seats and trim).  Either way, you won't go wrong.  If you buy it and decide you can't take care of it I will try to find/give it a good home.  I may need a test mule for developing performance parts anyway.

I actually thought of that when I checked out your latest exhaust design, which I like the curvier version of I must say.  I was thinking you at least need part of a half cut on a jig to ease fabrication  :wink2:

His other setup, which is in that thread but was taking too much time to load the pics for me, has a straighter joint.  I like this one more because it looks more like the merge on a motorcycle header.
