Mammoth's lost big brother!
« on: Jul 30, 2008, 12:27:02 PM »
Here is a very followed thread, from Canada!  It is being followed by guys all over the world!  This guy wanted a hummer, but decided he couldn't afford one.  So, he decided to build his own.  I think this is Mark's lost brother, cause he built his own body.  He started out using a f150 frame with a D60 rear axle.

It's a long read, 44 pages, and he's not done, he started in 2004.

That's cool, but I'm a little confused.  Did he buy a bummer body and have to fab it up, buy some panels and fab others (which is what it looks like to me) or fab from nothing?  Some of the stuff appears to be pre stamped at least.

It'd be kinda neat to try building a smaller bummer body for a toy frame.

Someone already did one for the Jeep, I think it's ugly.

Yeah that was on our last run to Big Bear he is a friend of a club member. It's on John Bull Trail where we were causing all that trouble.  ::)

Obviously you missed the sarcasm...there's no picture, just a little red x.

Maybe you've deliberately concentrating and inhaling petroleum distillate fumes at work.

I agree with your first post...it's ugly. The only thing that resembles a hummer are the fenders, it's almost like the old Rolls kits for VWs...except not as cool!

:yesnod:  agreed!  That still looks like a jeep.  That guy did an excellent job, and the fact that he had to learn welding before he could start the project speaks volumes for his commitment and determination to do something great!  I personally prefer the body style of the original hummers, and still think it'd be neat to see it done narrower for a toyota.
