22R, steering box, 3rd members for sale.
« on: Jul 28, 2008, 08:45:23 PM »
'81 (I think) 22R with unknown mileage.  Doesn't burn any oil or coolant.  It runs great and the only reason I'm getting rid of it is because it's not an RE.  It has a ton of oil puked out on the front, but it's been there since I've had the truck (since October), and in 2K miles, hasn't used oil or coolant, so I'm assuming the leak is fixed.  It will not have any of the emissions sensors or valves on it, and it will be missing various studs for the intake and exhaust manifolds, nor will it have the flywheel or clutch.  It will include both manifolds, PS pump, AC compressor, smog pump (it's a cali engine), and maybe the alternator.  If you're looking for a solid long block to build on, or just a good running spare, this is it.  The caveat is that it's going to the junker on Saturday, August 2nd.

I also have the stock '81 push/ pull steering box and J arm which are totally awesome and make great conversation pieces.

Lastly, I have the stock 3rd members with 3.90 gears and open diffs.  They don't make any weird noises, the pinions are tight, and when I changed the fluids about a month ago, the oil was clean.

Make offers on all this stuff.  If I don't sell it, it's all going to the scrap heap.  To me, it's found money, so any reasonable offer works.  Shoot me a PM with an offer, and I'll give you a total including shipping.  Parts will be coming from Hill AFB, Utah.  If you'd like to pick them up, I can do that too, but since the truck is engineless at the moment, I can't meet you anywhere with them.

The engine is going to the junker on Sunday instead of Saturday because your tax dollars dictate I work on Saturday.  Damnit.

And now it seems that the engine won't be going to the junk yard 'till late next week due to them being closed on Sunday.

Is $250 a fair price before loading on a palat and shipping?  Yes, I could ship if you cover the expenses.  A long block is basically everything between the valve cover and oil pan, no accessories or manifolds.  A small block is generally an American V8 engine less than 360 cubic inches in displacement, but some can be as large as 427 cubic inches.  And no, it wouldn't be the same.  It will bolt in, but your EFI manifold will not work with the engine.

Steering box power?  I know they are heavy so shipping is probably a lot.  Can you find out how much to 92508?  I'd be interested if I could get it for around $50-$60 shipped if it's power.

EarlKann-   Yes, I have the power steering box for the '81, and it works fine.  I don't know where 92508 is, but if you want to let me know which shipper you'd like me to ship it through from Hill AFB, UT, I'll sell the box for $45 + shipping.

Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

OT.... I knew there is something misunderstood along this thread... your post here awakes my curiousity about 22Rs.... as this engine is a rarity here in my place,

there is a FAQs thread of some sort about this  , isn't it?

Thanks

Andrew,  its not short and long blocks

its short DECk  and tall DECk,   aka  your efi block is a "short deck"  80-84 22R's  are "tall deck"
