3.4 Swap

i am planing a 3.4 swap with r150,34-4GT and gear driven transfer case w/4.7 gear set. it is going in a 84 PU, from what i have read i have to use a VSS.  what will i need to do to retain the use of the stock speedo or what one do i need to use.

i have been all over that site and i can not find anything on VSS.  ill call them 2marrow and see what they say

You should have a speed signal pulse from the back of your speedometer even with a carbed motor in there. I seem to remember even my 79 had one, something to do with the emission control computer if I remember right. Do you have the FSM for the wiring diagrams for the 84?
