Midnight Brawl ( aka: Chase the Moon III) at the Hammers 8-16-08

Its that time of the year again where daytime wheeling at the Hammers is out. Turn on the rock lights and night runs out there are a great time in the summer!

Chase aka "Loosekannon" started the annual "official" run a couple of years ago to coincide with a full moon. From that "Chase the Moon" was born and we have always had a good turnout for some serious sleep deprivation.

Now remember, we share Johnson Valley with other users and it just so happens the desert racers in MORE and MDR have events that also coincide with the full moon. MORE's race is on July 19th and MDR's race is on August 16th. I believe the consensus is that August is the better date, but we may have an issue with the MDR course if we run Outer Limits. So, the question is do we run on Friday, August 15th to avoid any issues with MDR or am I wrong with the map and we run on the Saturday night the 16th?

With the map, I beleive "Mellville Lake" near check 1 and MM15 is the area I'm concerned about. I believe that is on the route to Outer Limits.

Chase and I have been PMing back and forth about the date issue and the belief that August was better for most people, but I didn't see a thread on the Brawlers board. In fact, I just posted this same thread there in the events section.

"Chase the Moon" or "Midnight Brawl"  either one works for me because both mean I'm going on a wheeling trip.

Just fimed up my plans to go to WeRock Donner for the July 19-20 date so August is better for me.  I won't have a rig so I'll be looking for a ride.

No, that buggy was a single seat. We decided it was more practical to find something with a little more room.

For the July MORE race I am going out to see the tech and watch the race. It turns out I went to high school with one of the guys in class 1 so I might give him a hand if he needs it in the pit. We are planning on racing in the sportsman class in September.

How about 7:00 meeting on the lakebed and 8:00 we head to the trails.

I am driving the 4runner out.  No funds for a tow rig at the moment.  Panhandling on the Live Oak exit hasn't yielded the results I had hoped.
