If I were to buy a 4.7 crawl box for my 85 4 runner would I be able to swap the stock 2.28  and the 4.7 so that the 4.7 is the rear case as recommended

Why not just buy a crawlerbox and install that on the rear case that you already have?  That would be about the least labor intensive way to go about it unless you bought the whole setup already built.

I'm talking about dual cases and being able to buy the 4.7 case an adapter and using my stock case as the front case because they recommended using the 4.7 as the back case in a 21 spline application "In a 21-spline application, due to the excess torque generated by the 4.70:1 gears, we will only build a 21-spline Ultimate Crawler with the 4.70:1 gears in the back case." is the just a simple put the stocker out put in the 4.7 then adapter then the stocker to the trans?

I think I explained myself wrong.  If I didnt already have a dual setup and I was going to go duals and 4.7's at the same time I would buy a 4.7 crawler and a Mco7 from Marlin.  Then I would take the lowrange box off of the case that is in the rig now and install the 4.7 box in place of the stock 2.28 box that is on there currently.  The 4.7 box will already have the top shift setup in it that you will need for the second case and the stock low range box will have the appropriate shifter setup for your trans.  That is sorta how I did my duals.  I used the stock transfercase as a donor for the crawler box beings it had the correct linkage for a forward shift setup.  I had a 81 case that I used as the rear case beings it was already a top shifting case.
