My son and I spent a couple of fun hours wheeling at my local spot behind the Seven Oaks Dam with "Grocery Getter" and his family. The water level is back down to normal (it is a flood control dam) so there are some new rocks to play on! 8) Here is a long shot of the area last Easter Sunday when it was full of water and a few pics from the cell phone yesterday. :)

I lived in the Barton Flats area for about 1 1/2 years and went to Seven Oaks at least a few times. They had a biker bar there, but I dont remeber any wheeling except the dirt road that goes back to Angeles Oaks.

This was also 12 years ago, and I didnt have a capable rig.

The fire road that leads down to the flood control basin also goes into the East Highland ranch area. There is a gate though that blocks access to Highland probably due in part to the fires from last year. 12 years ago there would have construction at the dam site, but it wasn't completed until 1999. I read somewhere that this dam is the second largest public works project in terms of $$ behind the "big dig" tunnel system in Boston. :psss:

If "grocery getter" was my son, I would have been "gettin busy" at about 7 or 8 years old.  :rofl2:  :pimp:

No, I need all the help I can get with my oldest daughter who starts high school this year. :conf:

To the left in this pic is one of the twins (the other one is at camp) and Grocery Getter's wife and their son.  ;) There is a cool thread on Pirate where Grocery Getter stayed at the lookout tower at Morton Peak (just above the dam). http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=691444

Hello everyone and thanks to Jim for answering all my questions and helping me replace the brake line.  The dam is a great place to test out a trucks set up.  It was also nice because the stream was still running so my family could relax in the cool water while I got to test out the truck.   I bought the truck turn key from sam man on the pirate board after I got home from deployment this year.  The truck has been awesome and thankfully the truck came with a spare brake line when I bought it, so it was a quick fix and we were back to having fun.

:clap2: To the Grocery Getter on his first post! :welcome: Now we have to get you out to the Hammers! :yesnod:
