Hey I searched and could not find the original post, however, can somebody post a link to the post that has the gear codes.
There is a metal tag on the firewall of our trucks and some of the ##'s are a code to the gear ratio in the axles.
If somebody has a link or info on this that would be great.

Thanks a ton.

Nevermind, I tried searching again and realized I was only searching one board, not the whole forum. :hammerhead:

Thanks again.

I think this site is wrong.  With what its stating, trucks never came with a 4.56 ratio.  And we know that they for sure did!

"Thats a negative command." I have seen 4 and owned 3, 3rd gen extra cabs with 3.0's and 4.56 gears.  The all had/have R150F's

looking for it now.

I think 4x4 wire was the site I found that gave a complete list of all the door codes (or on older trucks the tag was under the hood on the fire wall)

Can't seem to find it on the site!

I really wish I could find that article. It tells you what all the codes mean, not just the axle gearing.

what made you think that??

QuoteMost Toys sold in the US have 4.10 axle gearing, but this isn't always the case. Four cylinder models with auto trannies often have 4.30 gearing, (4.87 if they came factory-equipped with 31" tires). All V6's with 31" tires and 4-cylinder manuals with 31" tires usually had 4.56 gears.

AHH  :hammerhead:

I am special!  I thought that the gear codes were only good for the diff code they were next to.  :therethere:

Makes way more sence, since there isn't even a 4.10 right next to the G or 8in diff.

Sorry, continue

Aye, just FYI.....toyota gear codes are NOT always correct from the factory (the paint marks or plates)

ALWAYS manually verify any gear set before running, selling or buying....  :smack:
