First off I just want to say hi to everyone. I am new to this forum, I just picked up a 1985 Toyota SR5.

I wanted to start this thread to update my progress on things I've done to it.

My Plans are for a DD that I can take on the trails on weekends.

Things I plan on doing

Any Ideas or comments good or bad are welcome)

Marlin 4" kit
Rebuild front end bearings are shot
Sliders
Marlin Bumpers
4.7 Gears
4.88's Aussie in the front, Detroit in the rear
Best-top Soft top
Winch
LC header and Magnaflow exhaust
I'm sure there will be a lot more, I'm just forgetting now.

I'm going with 35's what would you guys go with between BFG Muds or MTR's

Nice start you've got there. Sounds like a solid plan for a great multipurpose rig. I love BFG muds, and I love MTRs. Ran both of them and its hard for me to choose. The BFGs do a little better in the mud, and the mtrs a little better on the rocks. thats about it though. either way they are both great tires.

Personally, I actually like the BFG MTs better.  But it certainly is close IMO. 


:thumbs: sounds like a great start.  One thought though, is for a multipurpose rig, I would consider running duals instead of a single 4.7  Mostly because I think you'll find the low gear to be too low for some of what you do, esp. as a multipurpose rig.  :twocents:  whereas the duals give you a good amount of options.

Update:

Well I decided to go dual cases so I picked up a 2nd case today

Also while I was out I got some 62" chevy springs from a 05. (Still Not sure if I'll go that route or not.)

Hopefully if all goes well I'll be rebuilding my front axle this weekend(It's way overdue! Wheel bearings are shot!)
