I heard through the grape vine that Red and Coyote Lake trails are opened as of today.

I am not 100% sure on this, but definitely worth checking out if you have been dying to go there this year!

Mike
Red, West & Strawberry are open. Coyote will not be opened until next weekend. At least this was accurate info as of 6/14/08 at about 5pm.
There will be a little confusion when you get to the Turn off from 168 to Red Mtn trails. Someone stole the open signs that are normally put over the word Closed on the big sign. So as of now they may all still say closed.
There clear as mud.

Its about time they opened that. Went up last Wednesday (6-11) expecting to get to sand flats & walk in, but it seem the forest service did not want any one enjoying the public lands, as the gate at 168 was still locked for some unknown reason (Very dry, no sign of snow till the 9000 foot level).  SO Great news its open now......   Thanks.........
Save our forest from the sierra club, they are the enemy of outdoor enthusiast everywhere.

Well thanks a lot Cheese.... I didn't even make it to Coyote. Great. I blew the high pressure P/S line and yeah... But it is home now. Some 2 part epoxy(thanks Reace), some super33 black tape and duck tape(Lucky7), and super P/S hose fixer rubber tape stuff that was bought at a farm show from a hot girl (thanks nu106) is what got me home safe. But I did miss out on some sweet wheelin.  Oh well next time.

Next time just remove the belt and wheel without power assist steering, you tool.
