Board of Supervisors Declares a State of Local Emergency

PLACERVILLE – The Board of Supervisors passed a resolution today

declaring that a State of Local Emergency exists in association with the use of

the Spider Lake – Little Sluice Area adjacent to the Rubicon Trail, a popular

recreational trail located in the upper Sierra Nevada within El Dorado County.

A significant amount of human fecal waste has been deposited within this area

creating a health and safety threat to the users of the Rubicon Trail, and a health

and safety threat to adjacent lakes and streams, which in turn flow into the

American River Watershed. The unsanitary conditions of this area of the

Rubicon Trail have resulted in the degradation of an environmentally sensitive

area. Effective today the Spider Lake – Little Sluice Area will be closed for

recreational use for 120 days. The closure will not affect the use of the Rubicon

Trail as a thoroughfare.

Well this sucks that so many people are full of $h!T , so now that they can't camp there. This means there gonna go on into Buck Island and turn it into a waste land  :headshake: That is a beautiful place to camp and would hate to see the same thing happen. At least they have out houses at Buck, but it takes brains and respect to use them What a bunch of  :moon: people can be.  Is it really that hard to dig a hole deep enough to burry your stupidity . It really don't take that much common sence and effort to dig a hole . Some people can be a real  :stopit:

There is a thread on Pirate about Little Sluice.  It will have all the rocks that people pushed in blown up next year.  They want less people hanging around there.  They are also going to vote on banning green stickers.  so only street legal rigs and wheel there.  Hopefully it doesn't go through.

To The Floor

IMO I think that only street legal rigs should be able to wheel.  I mean these new comp rock crawlers are cool and all, but I am kinda getting sick of seeing it.  People coming in with these crazy crawlers on trailers and they try harder stuff that's off the trails.  I think what wheelin' is all about is taking your street legal 4x4 and wheelin' hard trails such as these, that's the roots of wheelin.   :twocents:
in the projects nooga, anything goes

Hyena

I think it should be open for anyone to wheel.  Most of the time i see oil or gas on the ground it is from a toyota that wasn't wide enough and flopped over.  It's a 4x4 trail so 4x4 toys should get to drive on it.  Memorial weekend i saw 3 toyota's roll.  All three had 4inches of lift or less.  They were street legal and did more damage then any rock buggy i saw up there.   :twocents:

Anyway, when is Spider gonna be open again?  I mean what date?
