I'm thinkin one of two things could happen with this rig:

1.
get the motor tuned enough to pull 27mpg on the freeway again (yes, they can do it, I've seen it) and then after that is perfect work on the body. Obviously I'll be keeping the aluminum cholo wheels, but new tires will be required. Once the thing is dialed in, rip the suspension off, transmission, axle and go to the bank with some diamonds or sky housings, hydro assist crossover low steer, flat belly, longs, 1/4 wall driveshafts, hp 3rds, 5.29's, and 33's. Standard armor all around, plus body protection (keepin it clean). Probably go tripples with a custom crossmember, R151 with the low first gear set, Marlin rear disconnect, f/r winch, int. cage, 8 track deck, and a few custom modified parts of my own. I would probably have to link it front and rear to do what I really want. What would you change?

2.
keep it stock :headscratch:

Deffinetly one of those two will happen....

That is the initial plan, no build will happen until the drivetrain is perfect.

are you selling your other rig?

sounds like alot of bling to drop into a truck when you already have another rig espescially to just keep it on 33's.  Maybe im not getting the point of this build

This will be a stock 2wd daily driver for a long time. Not sure about the build yet, and I'd have to collect all the parts first anyways.

so you need one that will produce MPG, not super horsepower then, and running on angles don't matter?  I don't know...you need to start with one that's not terrible to begin with...or make one out of about 5 different ones.  What's wrong with the one that's on it?

I'm not afraid to try it for ya.

I'd go pre-runner and baja the crap out of it!  And still get decent hwy mileage.  Some nice dropped spindles and some really long rear springs.

The guy I get my parts from has a truck just like that and has more clearance under it than a stk 4x4 and gets really good mileage with it.  And he takes it to Sandlake dunes all the time!

hey mini- i had an 85 xtra cab longbed that routinley got 32mpg (i know, ya right)

but it did-had a 5spd, 22r, and 3.7x gears out of an auto trans truck.

it eventually turned into a triple cased, 1 ton chev axled truggy :driving:

but man was it sweet to pull over 30mpg in a pickup

So the story behind this is the guy was a thousand years old and tried to fix the carb himself. Once he couldn't figure it out it just sat there for an unknown period of time.

Here are the pictures of the problems.

Where do I even start?!?!?

take the fenders off, hood off, superclean and pressure wash that beezy.  I have 2 drivers fenders if you can make one of them work you can have it. :gap:

I have a straight valance off of my truck you can have, I can build you a carb, you have a W55 transmission, I think I have an ignitor laying somewhere, I like the NAPA box, get a dashmat, yank that bed off and i'll bring a set of body hammers/dollys, buy some bondo...bring Dave and about a keg of beer...we can have it done over memorial. :whip:

edit: take the rear bumper off also.
