there is one metal plate in the engine bay, but it is to protect the brakelines from the exhuast manifold....

oi personally hate the rubber mats hanging down from the fenders... i go through water and have never had a problem... would actually not rather have those liners insulate the engine mreo than it needs to be

It could very well be.  It is part of your electrical system.  I'd seal up all electrical stuff with dialectric(sp) grease.  That is probably your main problem.  Also, where do you buy your alternators from?  This has been said a thousand times, but cheap isn't always best.  Autozone, kragen's, etc.  don't have the greatest rep for their reman parts.

That's not true! The alternator that I bought from Kragens with the pre-stripped threads worked perfect with a drill/bolt/nut custom combo. :gap:

you put the grease in the connectors... however, i dont really think that is where your problem lies... you need to quit running it through water... if you want a vehicle that can go through water, buy a boat.... boats dont do too well on land for the same reason.....

When I ran my 22r I was thinking of relocating my alternator.  I think the bigest problem with them running through water like that is where they are located down low.  If you could move it up to the top of the engine that would help solve your problems.
