ZUK is a respected member on this board. Please do not insult him by calling him a "dumb :pokinit:." Now quit being an ass and read ZUK's comparison of 4.10s and 5.71s. It was a lot bigger, but apprently, he is reworking the page.

Now, I also do not think 5.71 gears are the best choice, I was just saying that there is proof that they are as strong if not stronger than stock 4.10s as proven by ZUK. ZUK is a guy who rebuilds 3rds, I provided a link to the 5.71 vs. 4.10 page, you can navigate back to his main page by clicking the HOME link at the bottom to check out what he does.

I am pretty sure ZUK does not get around on the board much, and according to his site, he is on vacation right now anyways. I was just trying to defend a good guy when he is not here to defend himself. I personally took offense to you calling him a "dumb :pokinit:" that is why I defended him. Now that we have that out of the way, can we be cool? I would hate to have another person against me on the board.

yota18 ya those seem alot higher thanks for the info. does it drop you mpg more?
anyhow i trust zuk about gears- thats all am going to say.
right now i have 4.30s. i think i will go with lowest i can get which if i want to run a HP i will have to use 5.29s but i do want to build it for comp so i might have to go with stock 4.10s.

i think the r&p compainies should make more choices for the 8'' axle for ring and pinons
like-6.00s. that would be sweet.

i dont have any problems with anyone man I was just stating my point thats all man... I just know a couple simple facts one being that I have tone tons of wheelin for years on my 4.10 gears and never has a single breakage issue two being I know many people running yukon 5.29's and as far as I know they are the best gear sets on the market and I know multiple people who have broke 5.29 sets thats just what I know man...

ya I hear that but the axle is just physically too small to get that tall of gears man go with dana 60's and ya can run up to 7.17 and still have huge teeth on your gears thats what I want....just my  :twocents:

ya i know, what size tire you run on your 4.10s can they handle 37s-39.5s thats the size i wanna run in future.
yes, i was thinking of going with dana70s but too wide for me, and heavy.

I am running 35s now was running 38's and will soon be running 42's... I will be going 60's w/6.17's in them soon.. my buddy has been running 38's and bigger with 4.10's for a while now with no problems because he was tired of breaking 5.29 pinion gears compare a set of 4.10's next to a set of even 5.29's side by side and you will see what I am talking about ... on the other note keep in mind man axle weight is good for rock crawling as is being wide thats why I like the 60's

ya thats true, i just want to keep mine narrow i guess i like it better, but my dad's ford i like 76' it has huge axles. its fun to 4wheel. but thats off topic lol.
ah 42s sweet. tell me how it goes with the 60s at least you wont have to worry about birfields nor more.
thats why i was thinking of doing the birfield elminator kit, but i guess they are not strong enough so i stick with birfields and put in smurfields i guess.
4.10s work thats good i will probally regear to that only if i have too. i like the 4.30s i just think they are probally worn real bad just never checked.
thanks for the info everyone.

i was talking to a guy not to long ago and he told me he goes through a set of 5.29's every year :yikes: and i was like damn you must be hard on your shiz lol

i've heard that the 5.71's are weak but i have no proof. The only person i know of that has them is in a "SHOW TRUCK" he calls it haha so it must be a pavement gear.

Ive ran 5.71's theyre freakin sweet for 40's on a toy.  I beat the :pokinit: out of my truck and the 5.71s held up for days until i bound my driveline climbing a wall and it caused me to lose about 4 teath on the ring gear.  That wasnt bad it was the sheard off my output shaft in my tcase that killed me.  So yea the 5.71s arent as weak as people think...
