RockAuto.com Good Vendor!
« on: May 10, 2008, 12:21:56 PM »
I don't know if anyone is using these guys for parts.  The online catalog is massive.  They carry just about everything in stock, even a reman'd ac compressor for a 79 E350.  Shipping is fast, I get stuff in three days or less and their std shipping option delivers on Saturday as well.

:yesnod: They are a good company. I have used their products through engnbldr.com. High quality and still pretty cheap.

Yeah, for gaskets and stuff.  But they carry replacement parts for everything and your mother.  What gets me is the they have so much in stock and the shipping is fast every time.

Just watch out for the shipping........

If they're shipping from more than 1 location it can hurt............

I will have to look out for that.  I have never had them ship anything from multiple locations, though it makes sense with the number of part numbers they are dealing with.

Yep sometimes you're better off getting a different filter from another manufacturer because everything will ship from the same location.

The pain is they don't tell you what's shipping from where, so you have to play with it.......

That makes sense...they usually carry a bazillion different versions of the same item.  Thanks...that's a great tip!

Rock Auto also has several other names, I can't remember what the other names are.  I ordered from one company name and it came from Rock Auto.  I'll use them again.  As a matter of fact, I can get a new fan shroud for $30 + 5 for shipping the last time I looked, and DTB wants $30 for a used one shipped!

I ordered a new gas tank for my old nissan 720 and it was $35 for the tank, and $50 for shipping (due to the large size).  And it came in a box that was wrapped with 5 inches of bubble wrap and placed inside a larger box.  The UPS guy wanted to see what was in the LARGE box that weighed nothing!     All the other sites I was looking at wanted at least $175 for the tank before shipping.  The only difference was the one I got didn't have a drain plug and the others did!
