Does anybody know how to adjust the free play on GM steering boxes? The steering on my 1990 GMC Suburban is really loose. if i shake the wheel while i am driving i have to move it pretty good to mage the truck respond. I think that there is an adjuster on the top of the box but i can't find any info on how to adjust it in the manual that i have. Thnaks

Gittinit

Inspect the frame inside and out for cracks. That  era of gm frames are known for breaking the frame at the steering box mounting holes. Been there done that, and the repair sucks!

on the top of box you will see a nut with a slotted stud sticking through it, loosen nut tighten stud with screw then hold screw in place and tightn down nut. alittle goes along way if done to much the steering wheel will not return to center when you let go.  be carefull, do not over adjust it.  count your turns.
