Well, me and a friend took a trip to the rubicon.  It was beuatiful and really fun.  I am up by V-rock just screwing around and i back down a little hill and land on my front diff.  Ya, i got stuck and had to us my Hi-Lift jack to get me off.  After that happened i noticed that my clutch was acting a little funny.  The clutch wouldn't engage untill i had my foot all the way off the clutch pedal.  Well, i am thinking no big deal.  I make it all the way out of the trail and I start to go up the hill by the damn when all of a suddon i start to slow down and pretty soon i am going no where.  the engine is racing by it seemed like the clutch was slipping like crazy.  I am thinking, great this capps off a great weekend.  So i am sitting at the bottom of the hill wondering what to do when i come up with the idea of putting it into single low.  It starts off a little slow and i made it up the hill in first gear and single low.  I know nothing about clutches so i was pretty much screwed of being able to fix anything.  I decide to drive up to Robbs as fast as i could.  It turned out if i start on flat ground i can get a little speed and get it into 2nd gear.  The engine is still racing and i am not going very fast.  I make it most of the way but when i get the the big hills i can't go anymore.  So my friend decided to push my truck up the hill and it worked but very slowly.  I get to robbs and they don't have a phone.  So my friend drives up the hill a little ways to were he could get a signal.  They call the tow truck and i get it towed to his house.  I am thinking maybe my clutch just decided to go out.  Anyone else have any ideas?  I am going to buy a clutch tomarrow and then tear into it.  I will also put on my high steer once i get a steering box.  I think i need it since i bent my tie rod pretty bad.  Bent the steering stabalizer also.  :smack:

I'd say check all adjustments first. You might have bent a bracket for the clutch master somehow when you came down onto the rock.

Think of the burnt clutch as a offering to the trail gods

I think it might of been just an adjustment but since you pushed it to robs you probably need a clutch by now and your flywheel is probably a couple different colors and will need to be turned

I probly6 needed a new clutch anyway. I bought a new one from Reibes.  full kit with bearings and everything for $120.  Last one they had.  I will be taking it apart tomarrow to find the problem and replace the clutch.  I have 3 other friends that will help me plus my dad.  Two of the friends will be working on there toyotas at the same house.  They are heading up to the Rubicon this weekend.  I know my truck wont be ready but i might ride with one of them.  Thanx for the input.

Did you smell the clutch. I the clutch was slipping or not engaging the clutch would have made a wonderful smell.

It Was the clutch.  I pulled it today and found out half the clutch disc was gone.  Thats right.  There was nothing left of half of it, just metal.  I think when i hit the diff on the rock that maybe it put to much force on the clutch and it was warn so much that ot just shredded apart.  There were little stringy peices of the clutch in the bell housing.  we replaced it and it is working great.  I still can't drive it because i need 4 new t-case mount bolts and still have a bent tie rod.  We will start the new suspension and steering swap tomarrow.  Hopefully it will be done by saturday or sunday so i can get my driveline to the shop to be extended.

haha, that happened to me one time out here in CO.   Middle of the trail too.  Had to get towed out by a ....ahem...jeep.  Anyways, went with marlin HD Clutch, checked it when i did my dual cases and it's perfect.  Ohhh, make sure you torque down the pressure plate andd don't put it on finger tight (forgot about it) and find out it doesn't work when everything is bolted up and ready to drive.....it's not like i've done that before or anything  ;)

Are you going to get your fly wheel resurfaced ? If so I would call Marlin and talk to him cause he will tell you what exactly to tell the machine shop about how you want your fly wheel done. I forget or I would tell ya. And use locktight on the pressure plate

The Flywheel looked fine, didn't get it resurfest.  Bolted it all back together and it works a lot better then before.  But now that i am doing my highsteer and suspension swap everything on the front axle sems to be breaking or coming apart.  Triniun bearing came apart, broke a bolt holding the wipes on,  lost all grease and oil from the diff to the pass side.  Half to buy a bearing and seal kit right away for cheap becasue i have no money.  I am barowing money from my dad right now.    Everything that can go wrong seems to be going wrong this week.

Well you know Marlin has the rebuild kit  and sometimes the phases come along where stuff just  :_oops: and you just got to see it as a time to upgrade

Hyena, what springs are you running in the front? And why did your friend put a different year bed on his truck?
jeeps are like poopie richard, every fa@*ot has one

I put the 3 top leaves out of my stock rear springs and 3 bottom leaves out of a wagonner.  It is way to soft right now and the leaves sit almost flat.  I need to add a couple leaves.  The bed he use to have was trashed from trail rash.  This bed was free.
