Power windows
« on: Jul 11, 2004, 02:29:28 PM »
I am having trouble with my power windows on my 84 pickup.  I was wondering how hard would it be to swicth to manual.  I would think it would just be changing out the regulator and cutting the hole in the panel.  But am I missing something?

Your arent missing anything.  Toyota made it really easy to swap stuff like that.  Its just a matter of unbolting one style and bolting in another.  I did that to my 84, those windows pissed me off one too many times so they are history now.

I had power windows but my pass side motor went dead.  I decided ti buy manual window doors and then cut my other ones to make half doors.  I still have to power window stuff though.

Update.  I figured out it was a wiring problem and not a motor problem.  Simple fix so I am going to keep them and hold off on getting the manual windows.  I also have been doing some thinking and want to be able to switch out my doors with half/tube doors.  And the wires will create a problem.  So after some thinking out side of the box  I am going to cut the wires and wire in some bullet connectors that will let me disconnect them very easily

Yep the harness disconnects inside the structure above the kickpanel.  To access it you need to pull the harness back torwards the door with the door open to pull the rubber gromet out and the plug will be behind that gromet.
