At 8:03 pm, just a few minutes ago.  Anyone else feel it?  I felt two distinct shakes, a few moments apart.  Only the second quake I have ever felt.  Weird, gave me a momentary dizzy feeling.  House moved laterally and got the chandeliers to swinging a bit.

We had a 3.9 down here in Central California at 10:45 this morning.  I was worried.

Weaverville, an hour west of Redding.  Didn't feel very big, but it sure got my attention.  Can't wait to hear how big it was, but likely not much!

5.2, holy cow...
Cool, thanks, that was quick!  Puts it roughly 40 miles or so from here, as the crow flies.

Been watching that link for about 3 weeks now, we've been having constant shakers here in the W Reno area.  If you look at that list, at all those Verdi/Mogul and Reno listings, the epicenters were all within about a 5-10 mile radius from my assigned station

5.2... thats it?!

Thats it?  5.2 is a decent quake.  Its enough to cause structural damage, and get us out of bed for the entire night, running calls.

we had a 4.7 here last thursday, cause water and gas lines to break, stuff (and people) to fall, car alarms to go off, etc.

Glen, I lived in different areas of the Midwest for about 6 years, a long time ago.  A tornado hit a house in Kansas not far from where lived for about 1 1/2 years.  That thing was shredded, not a usable board left, and trees were also destroyed.  I'll never forget it.  The family survived in their storm cellar.

I think I prefer the occasional shaker...   :ack:

Depends.  We had two 3.1s last night, woke me up, both times had to get up and pee afterward :gap:  when you're close to the epicenter, its pretty freaky suddenly having the building shaking around you, :pokinit: falling down, being woken up out of a dead sleep by what feels like freight trains cruising by under and around you

Guess I should have said 'minor shakers'!   Don't think I'd care much for the stuff you are describing...

yeah, no one does.  And of course, we're hearing, "get ready, the # and intensity is increasing daily, so the big one might be coming."   :yikes:

and of course, they say that these aren't that bad, but I don't want to see worse.

Is this why you're asking about wake boards? Are you thinking the coast will be closer soon?

yeh, and had pretty good aim

looking at that map, see where the I80 sign is?  Due north of that, about 3/4 of an inch is where our station is.  Right where that N/S road intersects with the dark squiggly road that goes off by itself towards the west, towards the shaker epicenters.
