Tool Caddy/Utility Cart for a WEE Garage
« on: Apr 13, 2008, 05:16:07 PM »
I have no good place to work and this piece of junk has had it.  Note to self, wood and welding don't mix.

I wanted to grab a cheap utility cart and toss a piece of 3/16ths on it for a welding surface.  Looked around and HF was the only place to have one in stock.  Good thing I looked at it too cause I would DESTROY that thing in about a month.  Came to the conclusion that I would have to build something.

By the way, of all places, Lowes seems to have the best prices on casters.  Tractor Supply has the best selection, but more $$.

Here is what I have gotten done so far.  There will be a tray on the bottom as well for the welder and welding accessories.  I know it seems tall and skinny, but I wanted the surface at 3 ft high to help my back and it needs to be skinny enough to fit by the truck in the garage.

I may have to copy this great idea.  Any pics of the casters?

No pictures of the casters.  They are 2.5 inch rubber casters with locking brakes from Lowes.  Easy to find.  It is maybe $15 in steel from the yard.
