Were do you think Toyota is headed off road wise from the factory? Not aftermarket. I think we should compile all of our ideas together than once we all agree on what we would like to see on all the 4X4 lines of Toyota. Get a petition going even if it is just turns up as an option. That would be great!

they do watch what you are saying, even here  8)

Not sure about the whole company but it sure soften itself up on the new 4Runner  :rivers:

what it seems like is going is make it look really capable but comfy for the mall.most companies not just yota seem to be going this route.the most capable vehicle ive seen so far would be jeep rescue but i dont think something like this has enough of a market to make it.

things id like to see.if keeping ifs-air ride system like air rock type setup.can go up down and all over.nice ride for mall juice it abit and roll over some decent rocks.if setup correctly for offroad use would help make more flex(air from oneside would move to other)would need long control arms with close to center pivot for good flex and beefy axles.

bring back solid axle fj with coil or air four link ft and rear.

both should be available without dumb plastic stuff that breaks.optional sliders and real skids underneith.selectable ft locker and rear or rear limited slip at least.no push button 4wd no auto hubs.to much stuff to go wrong.case gears say 4.0-1 factory.drivetrain way up high to avoid damage.

sure would probly be lotsa cash but you would drool over a factory fj with 4 links coils and lockers a good case and some decent armor and beadlocks.guess this is why i dont design vehicles huh.would make jeep rescue look like :reg:

I thought the most capable production trail rig was the Jeep Rubicon?

yotaboy79

i think the taco should come with the option of a solid axle or even better come from the factory with marlin duel cases and a dana44 front axle and enoph lift to fit 35 in tires but i dont think that will happen so ill just keep my hopes up for just the toy solid axle option

Skinny_Pedal

yeah if the taco came up front with a solid axle and have the e-locker up front as well that would be sweet. then maybe people would say toyota tacoma the most capable stock rig out there

how about making a 4x4 that would let the dd be a weekend warrior without having to spend alot of money just to make it pass smog and do some good trails other than fire roads.

Pretty much everyone except the US has gotten the really cool yota hardware since the 60's.  Everyone had solid axles and turbo diesels till 96ish pto mini's werent all that uncommon either.  They also got 5 speed cruisers with split case transfers wich will allow lower lowrange gearing.  Damn we got robbed!

I agree...everywhere else does have better factory rigs...I dont entirely blame the grocery getting moms but they played a big role in taking the Solid Axle off the trucks  :headshake:

How about a Scion version of the Tacoma...that way they have an excuse to offer all the options they (we) want.

there is the xa and the xb and the tc

the xb is like a box, the xa is pretty cool but small. both are weak w/ a 1.5l

the tc is 160hp and looks cool. a supercharger is available for 200 hp from the showroom floor. it uses the 4cyl/5 speed drivetrain from a camry. www.scion.com

SWAMPER

No thank you Ill stick to my "pavement pounding" Swamper

the srunner is that. the 05 will have the new 4.0l v6 with 245 hp and a 5 speed. that should kick :moon: all over the domestics and some full size v8s

kyle_22r

well they have the taco s-runner now though

the original "sport truck" was the toy hilux sr5s that started being produced in '77.  not too fast by today's standards, but it had the biggest engine out of any mini truck of the day.  still a blast to drive, all toy 2wds were pretty sporty by my standards(my '84 could do 0-60 in about 9 seconds)
