83 yota pu...
Just put new bearings, races, seals, steering components and new shocks on the front.
When we put the tires on, we found a problem.
Passenger side: Tire, wheel and the housing that goes over and around the steering knuckle moves a bunch, like a 1/4" when the tire is moved or shaken from the top. This was obviously my original wooble/shaking problem on that side. :hammerhead: Bearings were put in and adjusted properly, I'm thinking the knuckle needs a rebuild. Any and all suggestions would be most welcome as the knuckle and it's components are new to me.

check your shims

might have to many

check your trunions......sounds like they are bad....while u are in there you might as well rebuild the knuckels...sounds like they need it..

If it is the bearings make sure you replace them with stock Toyota bearings (NSK brand or Koyo)

I'd say it's the trunnion bearings
Time to go wheelin!

When we speak of trunion, we are talking about the bearings on the axle itself that allows it to turn for steering, correct? If so, I had them checked at the machine shop, they said they were fine. I've gone over my Haynes and nowhere does it even mention trunion bearings, but then again the book has so many errors in it is pathetic.
Anyway you look at it, I'm tearing the darn thing down again, just try to figure out exactly what I'm looking for that would cause this.

trunion/knuckle bearings...there is one on the top  and bottom of each knuckle....the races sit in the ball on the ends of the axle tube...

i had that exact same thing three days ago... also check your shims. if you have to many it will do that. i had a good 1/4- 1/2" of wobble when i got the tire off the ground. all my bearings were just fine and it was the shims. i had to many. it worth looking and checking before you would have spent your $, but o well. still check them. what could it hurt?

Thought I'd check back in and tell ya the job is done, finally. Found quite a mess on the passenger side. Top trunion bearings and cage fell apart when I removed the knuckle and the race was frozen in place with rust. The bottom trunion bearing didn't fall apart but was completely worn out.
The ball end of the knuckle was rusted over pretty bad. It took quite awhile to clean and polish it back to good condition. Someone at one time had assembled the ring, rubber and felt the wrong way and water had made it in. Rubber was torn, felt ripped, ring rusted.

Marlins tie rod and Marlins knuckle kit made all the difference in the world!! Slapped on 4 new Rancho RS 5000's as well.
I want to thank you guys again, the links and advice were the best! :clap2:
