I have an 85 toyota xtra cab 4x4 with 529s in the origeonal rear axle but i want to take them out and instal a detroit locker into that third member, then put them in a v6 toyota rear axle. The detroit i found for 400 bucks is for a v6. Will this work?  thanks.

it isnt the axle you need to worry about but the third member.... will you be running the v6 detroit in a v6 third member with v6 gears?

Thanks for the sight. It didn't have exactly what I was looking for but it was very helpfull and I'm sure i will continue to use it in the future. I think I'm just gonna track down a V6 3rd for the axle

hi khagerty--
Yes...you can adapt your V6 DSL to fit in the 4 cylinder 3rd by using "adapter carrier bearings" part number 32010X by Timken. I think http://www.greatlakeoffroad.com/ sells them.
