81 T-Case

Will an 81 t-case off a 4 speed bolt up to my l52 in my 82?

Yup the early style case's are all the same.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

4 speeds had necked up splines on the case input shaft.  so to get it to fit into a 5 speed, you're gonna have to grind them down to match the rest of the shaft(you'll see what i'm talking about if it's like this)

Hmm I had heard that but the case in my 81 was just a standard input.  I wonder if it might be just the ones that came behind a l43?  Ill betcha Marlin can clear this up.

i'm pretty sure it was only 4 speeds.  definitely cases that came behind the l43, but not sure about the l45.
