Thinking my coil on my 85 carb rig is breaking down. I have been looking for one like it and no luck this is the one I come up with it is a newer model and I know my ends are diffrent but I think I can splice in if it will work :confused:

Why splice it?  Get the correct one from a wrecker or if need be I'm sure someone here has the correct one.  The top one you posted is from a 94ish setup.  It uses a small funky end that goes into the coil instead of the generic large setup like your current one uses. 

Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

mine looks like this one sorda..it is the lil short one but lays flat and seems like coil  sticks up higher

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

ok found the right coil to go back on and doing same thing now what? aftere about 5 min after cranking it is like it starts lope like it has a huge cam and kills its self any ideas?

how is the timing? it should not take 5 mintues to start....

timing is dead on .  it cranks perfect and purrs like a kitten then it just starts idle from like 1100 rpm to 200rpm then it kills it self :help: it might not take it 5 minutes but it starts acting up after like 2 minutes

i thought that so rigged choke open and the carb does not seem to be flooding i have lowerd and raised the floats and looking at the lil window on the carb fuel level seems to stay good even when idels its self out

does it actually stay running for any amount of time or dying as soon as it starts?

my truck dies as soon as it starts, running off of carb cleaner, there is no gas in my tank....

how is your fuel filter? that $5 part can cause all sorts of problems... how are the fuel lines? it is possible they are fouled or plugged in any way? what about the fuel outlet in the tank?
i remember lilbuddy having major carb issues for a long time.. he ended up somehow having a pine needle lodged in one of his jets!

yeah it runs  apporx 2-4 minutes after cranking it then starts  going from 1100rpm to 200 rpm but it runs it will even set there and idle with loping then it will finally kill out. I got half tank of gas......lol  replaced both fuel filters  less than 3 months ago the one at tank and one going in to carb at motor I also put plugs it in yesterday with new cap and button all new jets not been on trail or no were sence had carb built. This sucks!!!!

what about vacuum leaks in and or around the carb?

since you are running a caarb, did you try and remove anything such as the egr or modify anything in that respect?

no all i pluged off was  the bs ones all the major stuff left alone. i can not hear  any  leaks everything thing looks kolsher on it. and everything is hooked up . I do not think exhaust plugged but hey i will try anything thanks

ok i changed dist. coil and ign put all the vac lines back on i am thinking has to be pos carb i am going to find and try swap and make sure.

UPDATE  I run  compression test and rings are killed on #3 so I done got motor out and at machine shop crank is being polished just to get few fine scratches out. The head is gettting the once over at another shop had the block checked and it is good so just a lite honeing on it and pitions and rods in great shape. So I am going to go back with new bearings of course, polished crank , clean up and reuse rods and pistions new rings, crawl cam a little port and polishing and swithching over to 20 r dist. You all think of any thing I am missing or would do diffrent ? Keep in mind small budget were is best place for standard bearing and gasket set?

so do you like  ENGNBLDR.com parts? I can get cam ,bearings, and gaskets for like 254.00 this is good deal if good parts. You all got any feedback?

I've dealt with them a couple of times since there sorta local and have not had any probs with the oil pump or timing set that I bought from them.  I will do business with them again!  :thumbs:

good stuff, good guy too.... my timing set id from him, i jsut used lce guides.... engine is still going strong.... he uses good parts too... none of the felpro hg or anything like that... he uses MLS

when i did my hg, i went with OEM toyota, costs a little more, but i knew it was the best

Engnbldr.com com kicks butt.  Ted knows his stuff too.  I just finished my rebuild using his kit and cam.  You'll be hard pressed to find anything bad about their stuff on the net. ;)
