Hey guys,

I am trying to raise interest in this. I would like to organize an annual Marlin Crawler RC Rock Crawling competition. I've posted this thread in the Round-Up section because it would be nice to hold this event at the same time as the Round-Up, however this would limit the participants to only those who would be able to get to the Springs camp ground for the competition.

If I can gather enough support for this, then I would like to try starting an annual event sponsored by Marlin Crawler, at the Round-Up or some where else!

Comments, suggestions?

Thanks
BigMike

Sure, I can set it up -- we just need to figure out what types of rigs will be attending

I'm getting really excited about this!! i just need to sniff out my competition, i know the super expensive crawlers would annihilate me, but there should be more homebrew cheapo crawlers out there right? Ive got a nylint with dual cases, super grippy tires, custom suspension, and tons of other mods, and I have only $100 into it including original purchase price

yeah mine is 1/18th scale too, no I dont have any pics yet, i remember seeing your thread, yours turned out bad ass!! my buddy got carried away with his and spend a lot of money hopping his up using a brand new e-max for his parts. Mine was a budget build, but I can fully get it, mine has way better flex, just needs the super steering and I have to get new rubber

I have a battery operated crawler, and a gas r/c car that prolly wouldn't crawl at all.  If battery operated ones are included, then I'm down :hahaha:

If I had a crawler I'd be down for sure!

How about a class for the "stock" or "near stock" nylint crawlers?  :gap:  I have one, but I haven't tricked it out much (at all, other than cutting the coils a bit)  but I'd love to go beat it around a little.

hey  big mike i was thinking about the comp some:
classes could break down like so,
18th scale nylint
usrcca 2.2
usrcca super
big nylints possibly if we had enough...

i am sure we would have no shortage of courses we could setup, the only issue would be having enough judges and score keepers to run multiple courses at once. i think if we ran one class at a time it will end up being a really long day. i know at our local comps we run both classes at the same time in order to help get us done by dark and we start at 10am...
as far as getting some more help, i think if we posted up looking for help from one of the local clubs on www.rccrawler.com that would help a ton..

Thanks for the suggestions. I am sure we could find some hands to help out, but generally speaking, help would need to be both willing and able to make it into the springs campground. Which means they either need a capable 1:1 rig or be friends of one who is attending the event and ride shotgun.

I can easily see an event like this getting so large that having the two events on the same day (MC Round Up & MC RC Comp) could become difficult..

Hmmmm.. If it was early Sat. afternoon, like 12-3pm, how many people would actually be there for it? Many people have to work Fri and do not come in the trail until Sat. morning. Then you get a whole zoo of people trying to get to 1 place along a 16 mile trail, and many people even miss the dinner!

I am certainly not apposed to having an event a couple weeks before the round up.

Ahh  What if we had ample flood lights, and we held the event after the dinner/raffle! Now there is a great idea!

Ok, my speaking-out-load-brain-storming is working: Let's hold the 1st Annual Marlin Crawler RC Rock Crawling Competition after the evening raffle at the Springs Campground Saturday Night, September 13th! :booya:

At least that way if some people are still coming in late, at least there will still be some action for them!
