So just a little background to show you where it came from and where it is now.
It is an 84 regular cab 4wd that I bought while in high school (04). When i bought the truck it had a rancho suspension lift already installed(3"or 4"), with worn out 33" all terrains, and it looked something like this

Soon afterwards some of my friends built a 3" body lift for me for my birthday. They were even nice enough to paint some flames on it for me.

sometime after that I built my aluminum dash insert

next was the rebuild og the engine. which now looks like this

then came black steelies and 35" bgf at's

And then my roommate talked me into letting him weld up my rear end for me

So this is what it looks like now.

So the plan for today is to build sliders for the AZROCKS in april. However, I am a college student with very low funds, have very little tools, and I live in an Apartment complex that does not allow mechanic work. So today will consit fo cutting the tubing by hand with a hack saw, and coping the tubing using a round file. updates with pictures should be in a few hours.
Oh, and on a side note, the name "Howlin Coyote" was givin by my roomate, and the reason is that every time I go out wheelin, my power steering pump starts to squeal.

bmxicanrivera

The shell is only on there for camping trips, and its almost as clean as it looks. No body damage yet :crossed:

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Nah, I got used to it. But it still worries me when I get cops behind me and I squeel around the corners.

I'm still laughing thinking about you installing that 3rd at the campground and then taking it out before you went home.

I will probably go today, so  will tell them you said hi.

here are some pics of the work I have gotten done between homework and class and work.

I forgot to mention that the tubing was outside and had a nice layer of rust. So a majority of the time was spent sanding the rust off. After I finished that out came the hack saw, and I cut all the pieces. Then came the fun part, Coping with the round file. Here is how they came out. Today i get to weld it all up and then Mock it up on the truck!

Well, I got some more work done last night. Trimmed all the tubes to th exact same length (the first cope was my trial one, and it came out short), and started welding. I am showing these welds in an effort to recieve some critisism and pionters. I haven't welded since High School, and I am using a little 110 wirefeed mig welder that my roomate got at a pawn shop. So here are the pics. Let me know what you think.

And I know he isn't wearing safety glasses, but this is still a sweet picture

Please keep in mind that we are not supposed to work on our vehicles, so a grinder and a welder were drawing some unneded atention to out area

Thats one way to tan at night!  :gap:

Nice file notch!

As for the welding, looks like you are using a flux core wire. Which I would hope since it doesn't look like there is a gas nozzle on the handle.  For flux welds they look pretty damn good.  I would suggest investing in a cheap welding jacket, getting a sun burn from welding is NO FUN! from one broke collage student to another its worth the ~$20 bucks!  Not to bust your chops, but safety gear goes ALONG way when it comes to money. I have spent WAY to much money having :pokinit: dug outa my eyes, and having your arms burnt by your welder will make you miserable for a week (depending on how bad you sun burn yourself)!

Build looks good dude!

bmxicanrivera

Thanks. You are exactly right on the type of welder, and I usually do weld in some sort of long sleaves.

dude,  :slap:  i learned my lesson  when i had  to lie  on my back in the er  for about 8 hours one time

and yes  i still get caught without glasses  but  :spankbutt:

OH  and what is that a 6 inch body lift  :yikes: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l233/bmxican129/SN850212.jpg

Actually that is my roommate without the safety glasses on. I always wear mine.
But on a side story, I didn't get anything in my eye while working on my truck, but while riding my bike to ace to get a new wire brush a bug flew in my eye. Oh the irony
