ifs hubs with fj60 rotors?
« on: Mar 10, 2008, 07:14:36 PM »
Ok. So I decided that I want to run sky's ifs widening kit on my sfa. I decided to go with the fj60 rotors and the ifs calipers. Today I got 2 ifs hubs and 2 fj60 rotors (year 1984). When I put the rotor on the ifs hub the bolt holes don't line up correctly, instead the rotor holes line up with the wheel studs. I was under the impression that these rotors would bolt right onto the hub. Do these have to be drilled or do I have the wrong year parts?
also this is just a test fit, I dont have the sky spacers yet, and its possible that this could work once the spacer is in there   even though I hear of people doing this conversion without the spacer. Which is where my confusion is coming from.

any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Jared

When you get the correct parts it will fit together...

from the Sky site:

What is a Widening Kit?

What this spacer does  is allow you to run IFS wheel hubs on a strait axle front end. IFS wheel hubs wheel flanges are offset further to allow the front ends of these trucks to match up to the rear, which is 58 inch's wide. A pair of these CNC machined spacers is needed to adapt either your current solid axle rotors and calipers, or the upgraded IFS V6 calipers and FJ-40 or FJ-60 series vented rotors. We supply all needed hardware to bolt this spacer to the rotor. This can be done in your garage, no special equipment needed. Average install time with correct tools and parts is 2.5 hours.

Lay the old rotors on top of the old rotors with the "hats" touching (not the braking surface of the rotors) Put them onto a hub with the wheel studs removed (too keep the center holes lined up) and drill the new holes to bolt the rotor into the new one.  Simple as that, why let the wrong year stop you?  The offset and every other facet of the rotor is the same, just drill the holes and put them on.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
