This Bracket Is welded on Here To keep The axle from rocking. Is This Necessary?
Or is it ok to remove it and weld on this Upper Axle Reinforcement Gusset

Anyways this is The Part

But i thought that is the part that helps limit the amount of forward and backward movement of the axle. . So. . Its no problem if i take it off?

I just didn't want to get in there and remove something i don't need to.

But i guess with it removed its not going to make that much of a difference. .

Cut the sucker!   :slap:
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

how much lift do u have, since that bar keeps u in your lane when braking and accelorating, if u are gonna go crossover steering soon u will be fine, but my old 79 made lane changes when i hit the brakes hard with 5" of lift

you can cut it off, but you WILL experience brake steer.  If you can adjust your driving habits to compensate, as I have, you will be fine.  I say take the bar out and go for a drive to see what you think.

yea the Suspension is broke in,  but If you look close in the picture you can see where it has broke, At the top of that rod. i have been driving it with it like that for a little while and have notice some pulling when breaking but nothing i can compensate for. I was planning on welding it back together this weekend, until i noticed that the Axle gusset wouldn't weld on with it there. So yea this is why i am here  :)

if you have the stock steering ,and you DO,  its best to leave it, or replace it with a shock absorber

chances are  if you still have the stock steering your not wheeling hard enough to need the over axle truss

Will keeping that part on affect the amount of flex you have?

After removing said bracket and installing highsteer, on road manners should be safe and acceptable?

Great posts.

I like the remove and drive around and see what it feels like option.

I did this before I went hi-steer.   Jump on the brakes HARD @ 60 mph and tell me if you can controll it.   Two things will happen, either your brakes suck and you won't stop, or you will make a left turn.  Play with it enough, you can make lane changed without touching the steering wheel.

I went this route.  I didn't let my wife drive the truck @ freeways speeds though.   I would not suggest tailgating anymore!  :D
