Maybe the last gasser.Volvos have done this many times over
yea the 6.0 wont do that (piston slap motor).
The Hino 8L diesel is gonna go 1,000,000 in the new Tundra!
I like the trucks otherwise. I didn't buy one because of the piston slap issue. That and the weak driveline they keep using in the 1500.
You are lucky. Go on a Chevy board and do searches on 4L60's and see what you come up with. www.fullsizechevy.com, www.gmfullsize.com. Many guys that do any serious towing swap in the 4L80 which is stronger but robs power and mpg. And at a minimum they try to "help out" the 4L60 with tranny coolers shift kits and servos. I used to own a 98 Tahoe, so I'm speaking from experience as well. Almost everyone I know, and I mean everyone has had tranny issues with the 4L60 in their fullsize trucks. Some at 30,000 miles.Same tranny used in a 3000# vehicle as a 6000# vehicle about says it all. Lets not forget the puny 8.5" diff, same situation.BTW, have you changed your intake manifold gaskets yet? If not you should.
30k miles problems with the 4l60e? must have been towing over 5k pounds with the tranny still in overdrive. gm should have put the 4l80e in the 1/2 tons as well instead of just the 3/4-1 ton. the 10 bolt rear (8.5") will hold up fine behind a 350 and smaller tires, 33"-smaller. with 160k miles would be a good idea to go ahead and get new axle bearings, axle shaft seals, and inspect the carrier.
Many, many years ago there was a TV news spot on a VW Bug in Pasadena that reached the 1,000,000 mile mark. Though I must say that is incredible mileage out of a Chevy.
Ha! I wonder how many motors and trannys that thing went through to reach a 1,000,000 mi?!
Article didnt say anyhing about motor replacement just alot of oilchanges. Can you even claim that many miles if you have replaced everything.
