 :dunno:

Since I have my tool box organized now, all my spare parts and fluids fit in there and I no longer have to carry the lock box.

So, what do you guys think about laying the spare flat in the bed, and I don't know what to do with the ammo cans yet, they might fit in the bed also....

The bed is 45" long and about 38" wide...

DTB

I think it would look better with the spare flat...Ive never really cared for it stickin up in the air like that  just my :twocents:

That will never work  :shake: :gap:

Don't you sometimes fill the bed up with camping gear/equipment?

DeadlyPeace

Flat would be better for visual purposes, but if you do use the bed for camping gear/equipment then the tire won't leave you any room for it.
Looks like a classic catch-22 situation.

exchange that spare tire for a pack of plugs and an air compressor and you'll have all the room in the world

I hate to say this but, what about doing like Chris Geiger did with his yellow Toy back when he was with All Pro. Put it over the rear axle, between the frame rails.

1. Axle compresses too far and would hit tire for sure
2. Shocks are triangulated and mounted to flat bed
3. Some other reason

Yeah, yeah, the runner is first :blah:

I say go for it.  It should put the weight a little more directly over the rear end, helping the suspension work,( i don't think you would see much difference, it's just a theoretical point)  lowering the COG on the back half of that pregnant dog also.

Maybe lay the tire down and build a rack over it.  Then you could slide the tire out (if needed). The rack could be used for camping gear, ice chest, ect.   :twocents:

I like that one.   Keep the heavy stuff low, and pack lighter weight stuff above.

If it was me I think I might try and mount it just like it is but move it forward... So It would sit like it is but just behind the tool  box and then with the ammo cans direcly behind...

MiniSimp

I measured the bed out last night and the ID is 44-7/8"x39" so there will be pleanty of room for the tire and cans! Now it's time to charge the batteries for the grinder...

skipnrocks

I like the idea of having the tire slide inbetween the bed and a rack!
Life is too short!!!   Do something with it!!!
