Well just got her about a week ago , drove from Arkansas to Texas and drove her home from there . Here's the spec.s
1980 Toyota 4-WD Pickup
20R Engine with stock Aisan Carb. ( Has been replaced with a 20R from ? , the oil stick is on the passengerside of the engine , I know weird , I've never heard of that . The head was rebuilt right before I bought her , she runs like a top ).
4-Speed Transmission
Came with street tires but I recently put some TSL 32x15x11.50 SX's on .
Interior is sharp

Plans :
Try and keep it as close to stock as possible .
Replace stock springs (Notice how it sags a little in the front )
5-Speed upgrade
????

Nice find!

Glen has an L52 that will bolt right in there, no mods needed (other than enlarging the shifter hole).

And take some more pics!!

Me and Glen attempted to ad Power Steering to it . We got the Steering box mounted and the pump installed , all I need now is to fab a bracket for the pump and get a idler pulley also mount the resevoir .

Tool Boxes are super nice.... I would sugest maybe an internal roll cage, or something... But I could never survive without my tool box.... could live out of my tool box for a year long wheeling trip...well, maybe

Definately getting a toolbox , don't really know about the rollbar yet if I added the rollbar I would have to get a box that sits inside the bed .

I know what he was talking about , maybe if I was building a straight rock rig I would go with something like that but this truck will not be put through anything worth needing an internal roll cage .

Yeah a black toolbox would definately be the way to go , I'm not too big on Rollbars either but I have one and hate to see it go to waiste . I had to search high and low to find one this clean that hadn't been molested .

If you are not planning on wheleing it that hard then you probably don't need a roll bar in the bed.  If I was to put a roll bar in my bed it would be mostly for looks.  But I would definatly stick with my tool box if i had the choice between the 2.  Good luck with either.  And I figured that you were not planning on wheeling it too hard, otherwise i would have suggested a full exo and a tool box.

Nice looking 1st gen. Great to see one once in a while that is that clean. How was the drive from Texas to Arkansas without P/S?

Strange that the dipstick is on the right side. Is there a place to put on the left side that is plugged. Just wondering if someone might have modified it to go to the right side for some odd reason.

BTW I vote for the toolbox, better value for your buck. Rollbars are mostly for show and to hold offroad lights way too far off the ground IMHO.

There is no place on the driverside for a dipstick . The ride wasn't too bad without PS , lol . I've already decided on the toolbox instead of the Rollbar .

Your 20R probably came out of a Celica or a Corona.
