My daughter just got rid of hers. She may be finally learning what I mean about function before form. She was...very unhappy with the performance of the phone.

what about it did she not like?

I don't remember details, but...flimsy, buttons not working, it would self dial people while it was just sitting on the counter.

SInce you soaked yours, why not look into the GZ one phones. They're water resistant...sealed with o-rings.

diddo on the chocolate = junk. My friend has it and he dislikes it. I don't know what the exact reasons are (I just need to ask him) but he told me the only reason he is keeping it is due to its good music playing ability. I told him most phones today are plenty capable to play music.....

I have had a super old phone for 3 years and finally decided to upgrade last month (also Verizon). I HATE flip phones, I've always said it...... but unfortunately America is so far behind the world and there is nothing good to buy here.

With that said, I just decided to throw in the towel and I bought a Samsung SCH-U540 flip phone and I LOVE IT. This is by far the best phone I've ever had (even better than my non-flip ultra thin Sanyo sprint phone). It is very slim, takes great pictures even in dark settings, has huge text fonts on the screen, and the ringers are better than the standard crappy ringers that, for some reason, cell phone manufactures believe users enjoy.

I would say that most phones today are excellent. It is just a matter of features and if you like its look & feel.

It would be nice if more providers would pick up the G3 (?) network so I could use my phone in Japan

are those with verizon?

Yes, I just got one for Marlin. It is shock, dust, and also water proof up to 30 feet I believe. It is a bit bulky, but it feels as strong as a hammer.

I like the larger size...phones were getting too small to use.

Take the battery and SIM card out and blow it out with air, it might still work after it dries real good. Been lucky there one time.

Your supposed to put it in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer.....

It will draw the moisture out of the phone...try it and tell us if it works

freezing doesn't remove water, it just changes it's state. Maybe we can get Mythbusters on this one. Try this link, it sounds more reasonable... http://www.wikihow.com/Save-a-Wet-Cell-Phone

Again, I think you will find that many of todays phones have many more standard features than the last time you bought a phone. Most of the phones I looked at (at the Verizon store), may or may not have actual "sim" cards, but they have micro sd cards of which I am told phone data may be exported to, such as contact lists, pictures, and messages.

One cool thing was that my old phone did not have a card, but they were able to hook up a computer to it and transfer all 483 contacts I have to my new phone. It only took 5-6 mins and my new phone was completely programmed. The only thing it did not transfer was my calendar notes, but thats not so bad as my old phone was crappy enough to only allow 10 consecutive calendar entries :spit:
