any one know stuff about them i shoul know??

im looking at a 91 tommorow that is pristine

i want the factory lockers but they didnt offer those till 93 huh??

anyway...some bigmike knowlage would go good about________________________< here

They are really nice vehicles.  I was considering one when I bought my 4runner and looked at several. If it is clean and drives nice it's up to you.  The 91 will have the 4.0 motor.  Really underpowered.  MPG will be pretty bad, but the are selling for so cheap that its not such a big deal.

For what they are going for they are hard to beat.  You could probably find a later 4.5liter one for a few more bucks.  Those have decent power.

Hey Dan,
Here is a link that should help you out. http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/announcement-thinking-buying-80-follow-link-helpful-advice.html
Also, I know of one in SoCal you might be interested in. He is a friend of mine that works for University of Toyota/Lexus. So, you know its well taken care of. I think he wants in the $7K range.

Glad that helped. I've been looking for a 97 40th annv. ed.

If you look on the IH8MUD classified board, you can find some nice ones every now and then.

I 6 3FE in the earlier models, 1FZE in the later (FZJ80)and 1HD-T availible overseas, or you can get a halfcut from Spector offroad for doing a conversion.

1FZE is an I 6, the 1HD-T is a turbo diesel, when they stopped making the 80 series, the newer 100 series got the V8

IMO, Big, heavy , slow to turn as a whale.  Just hated it when I test drove one a few years back(that was new, no less).

Stick with the 60 series.  Classic looks and well built.

FJ80s are pretty sweet.  The one I test drove had all the bells and whistles including factory lockers at both ends.  I'd have one in a heartbeat if it fit the needs of my family.

anyone here own a 93-97 fzj??

My brother has a 95 with the e-lockers.  Slee 4" lift, ARB front bumper and 35" tires.  Nice and comfy ride but filling up at the pump will kill ya.  I think he gets about 9-10mpg.  Earlier this month when we towed my project parts truck, we got 6 mpg.   :shocking:
