Wow you did that with a harbor freight kinkomatic? Did you fill the pipe with sand or something?

No kinking. It does flatten the tube just a little on the tighter bends, and it leaves a dimple on each side of the bend from the rollers. It definately takes some patience to get the bends right, but I can't complain for a $79 bender.

All the tube work on the '89 has held up great and it has seen some hard hits.

Damn, that is a nice cage for a 80 dollar bender. Going to have to invest in one of those since Im broke!! I like what you've done with the rig, looks real good

 Nice trucks!  You might want to connect the top and bottom tubes on your flat beds just for some added strength.  The ones that run horizontal.    Just my two  :twocents: since you asked.  I like them both.

No sand, just bent it normally. One factor is the grade of pipe I used. People hear "pipe" and think it's all junk, but it's not. The pipe I used is USA made (bullmoose tubing inc., Trenton,GA) it looks exactly like HREW. Foriegn made pipe (black pipe) is junk. I have actually broke a piece of black pipe trying to bend it. There is a huge difference between the two. The specs on the pipe are: 1.250" sch 40, 1.660" O.D., .140" wall thickness. I think it is as strong or stronger than 1.750" hrew, I've had both.

Yeah, I've thought about that. I'll probably add some on the red truck. Thanks for the comments, that's why I asked.

Update: Just got some 39.5's. No wheeling pics yet, still got to modify some stuff before I wheel with these. Here's a few pics we snapped in the back yard.

Chromo axles, crossover steering, moving the front axle forward so they clear at full stuff.

First off some history on the truck. This truck was bought new as a "rebel" edition package offered by southeastern toyota distibutors. I bought it from the original owner with the factory paint and decals. It had a rebel flag on the hood and the stripes on the side.

If you read the thread you'll find answers...

Yota87Truck

I did read the thread... I just couldn't remember if they were origional.  I didn't remember any good pictures of the hood... just the sides front and rear... but no good hood shots

bluetoy84

Yes, the paint and stripes are all original. The flag on the hood is faded out. It had silver stars and outline just like the sides. It was probably already faded out before I was old enough to drive.

Your right I didn't have any good pics of the hood, so I purposely took one.

Cut boggers. Take a bogger and remove all the small lugs.

A lot of guys run these around Tennessee & Alabama. They don't work the best on flat smooth rocks, but they will grip like mad in the slick mud and on jagged stairstep rocks around here.

It steers better than I thought it would, but I'm definately not gonna wheel it until I get the crossover steering on it.

Update: moved the front axle 3" forward, crossover steering, got some cheap chromo birfs off ebay, ditched the cut boggers for 2 more tsl's.

Thanks guys. That was a fun ride. We had a lot of rain lately, so the normally dry rocks were like creeks. Very slick , but lots of fun.
